TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An explosion took place at NATO military base in Wazir Akbar Khan, Kabul, Afghanistan, on Saturday evening, January 4, 2013. The explosion was caused by a bomb installed on a convoy vehicle passing in front of the base.
"The blast took place after a military convoy entered the Camp Eggers, a NATO base near the German embassy in street 17 Wazir Akbar Khan district. Since the incident occurred inside the base the casualties remained unknown," a police source told Xinhua.
It is stongly suggested that Taliban was behind the attack. Taliban announced previously that cold weather would not prevent them from attacking security forces.
Previously, in the same day, one NATO soldier and six militants were killed when Taliban attacked a military camp in eastern Nangarhar province. A police commander was also killed in a bomb explosion in Ghazni province.
