TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following rumors that have been on the surface about Miss Uzbekistan, Ganieva Rakhima, being an unofficial participant in Miss World 2013 event, MNC Head Corporate Secretary Division Adjie D Soeriaatmadja said he had rechecked the issue with Miss World Organization.
"We reconfirmed the matter to Miss World Organization. Ganieva Rakhima was officially selected to represent her country," said Adjie to Tempo through a short message earlier today.
Based on the information from the world's beauty queen organization, Ganieva had been officially crowned as her country representative on July 21. It makes the 18-year-old university student eligible to participate in Bali's Miss World 2013.
Previously, many people questioned her participation on the contest. Back in her country Uzbekistan, nobody has any idea who she is. The predominately Muslim country does not even hold Miss Uzbekistan contest. Officials at Uzbek Culture Sports Ministry and national Committee on Women said she was an imposter.
The official site of Miss World writes Miss Rakhima Ganieva was born and raised in Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbek. She is currently studying Law and International Relation, loves to play piano, tennis, traveling and learn about history.
