TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Honda Prospect Motor is accelerating the construction of the company's new plant, initially targeted to be finished after April 2014. "Its completion can be finished before the specified date," said PT Honda Prospect Motor Marketing and After-Sales Service Director, Jonfis Fandy, during the launching of the Honda Safety Driving Simulator Facility in KidZania, Jakarta on Saturday, June 15, 2013.
PT Honda expects that the new plant will be able to produce 120 thousands units, while the old one could only produce 60 thousands units. However, this year's production capacity has been increased to 70 thousands units.
Jonfis said in the next few months, the production capacity of the old plant will increased into 80 thousands units. "The total production of our company is expected to reach 200 thousands units by next year," he said.
The new plant will be built in Karawang, West Java and located near the old plant. The company has a 50-hectare of land altogether. "The old plant was built on a 22 hectares of land and the rest has been allocated for the new plant," said Jonfis.
