TEMPO.CO, Beirut - Lebanese security officials reported that a rocket was fired from south Lebanon to Israel on Sunday, May 26. At the same time, residents of a northern Israeli town was reported to hear the blast.
"An explosion was heard. The cause is still being investigated," an Israeli military spokeswoman said. Another Israeli military source said that the explosion was probably caused by a mortar.
The incident occurred amidst rising tension in the region caused by the Syrian civil war. Damascus previously said that it would respond to Israeli air strikes earlier this month.
