Indonesia and Turkiye have agreed to expand their civil aviation cooperation by adding routes, capacity, and supporting connectivity, tourism, trade, and broader economic opportunities.

The Indonesian delegation led by the Director of Air Transportation of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, Agustinus Budi Hartono, stated that the agreement was reached during the bilateral air relations consultation between Indonesia and Turkiye held on October 22-23, 2025 in Istanbul, Turkiye.

2. Indonesian Lawmaker Says Schools Should Teach Mandarin Instead of Portuguese

Member of House Commission X (DPR), Bonnie Triyana, stated that it would be better for President Prabowo Subianto to expand the teaching of the Mandarin language rather than introducing Portuguese in Indonesian schools.

The PDIP party Faction legislator believes that the government should reconsider because Portuguese is not a widely used language in international interactions.

According to Bonnie, President Prabowo's statement was made to entertain the Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva during their meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. "Perhaps the President was entertaining President Lula as part of diplomacy," said Bonnie in a written statement on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Bonnie, a member of the House of Representatives' Education Committee, believes that requiring students to learn Portuguese would be a burden, as it would also require teachers to become proficient in the language.

Students should be given the option to choose whether to take Portuguese as they would an extracurricular activity or an additional subject. "Students should be allowed to choose whether to participate in the lessons or not," he said.

3. Indonesia's Bengkulu Coffee Secures US$1 Million Export Contract

The Head of Bank Indonesia's Bengkulu branch, Wahyu Yuwana Hidayat, expressed his pride in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products in Bengkulu for being competitive and gaining international recognition.

This was evidenced by the recent success of one Bengkulu MSMEs in securing a coffee export deal worth US$1 million.

He made the statement during the opening of the Bencolen Festival in Bengkulu on Saturday night, October 25, 2025.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), in various coffee events, Bengkulu's coffee is recognized as one of the best in the country," commented Wahyu.

He mentioned that coffee has become one of Bengkulu's mainstays and is of a quality that is not inferior to coffees from other regions, but still needs a lot of support to be more recognized by the international community for export.
