Indonesia's Bengkulu Coffee Secures US$1 Million Export Contract

October 26, 2025 | 12:01 pm

TEMPO.COJakarta - The Head of Bank Indonesia's Bengkulu branch, Wahyu Yuwana Hidayat, expressed his pride in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products in Bengkulu for being competitive and gaining international recognition. This was evidenced by the recent success of one Bengkulu MSMEs in securing a coffee export deal worth US$1 million.

He made the statement during the opening of the Bencolen Festival in Bengkulu on Saturday night, October 25, 2025.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), in various coffee events, Bengkulu's coffee is recognized as one of the best in the country," commented Wahyu.

He mentioned that coffee has become one of Bengkulu's mainstays and is of a quality that is not inferior to coffees from other regions, but still needs a lot of support to be more recognized by the international community for export.

Wahyu shared that MSMEs in Bengkulu successfully secured a billion rupiah contract, as a result of participating in a trade fair in South Tangerang some time ago.

Bengkulu's coffee will be exported to the Netherlands, Egypt, Nigeria, and several other countries. In addition to securing export contracts to several countries, Bengkulu's coffee also agreed to a domestic trade deal to meet the coffee needs of several star-rated hotels in Indonesia.

"This agreement is very rewarding for us, because until now Bengkulu's coffee has not been recorded as an export commodity. With this export trade agreement, it shows that Bengkulu's coffee is truly deserving of international recognition," he said.
