Tempo.co, Jakarta - Ramadan is one of the most anticipated months for Muslims worldwide. During this holy month, Muslims fulfill the obligatory fast from dawn to sunset, along with various other acts of worship and good deeds to seek blessings from Allah.
The start date of Ramadan 2025/1446 Hijri is eagerly awaited by many to allow for proper preparation. So, how many days are left until Ramadan 2025?
How Many Days Until Ramadan 2025?
According to the Indonesian Hijri Calendar for 2025, published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri will fall on Monday, March 31, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Therefore, the first day of fasting is expected to begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
However, it is important to note that this date is only an estimated date based on the observation of Eid al-Fitr. Therefore, as of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the countdown to the start of Ramadan fasting is predicted to be in 39 days.
The government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, will hold an isbat session on the 29th of Sha'ban to officially determine the start date of fasting.
This decision will be based on calculations regarding the position of the hilal (the crescent moon) and confirmed through observations of the hilal at various locations across Indonesia.
Muhammadiyah's Ramadan 2025 Schedule
Indonesia's one of the two largest Islamic organizations, Muhammadiyah, has announced that Ramadan 2025 will begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025. This decision is outlined in its Unified Global Hijri Calendar (KHGT).
Based on the KGHT, Muhammadiyah has also determined that 1 Shawwal 1446 H, or Eid al-Fitr, will fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025, which is different from the estimate by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. However, the start date of Ramadan according to both schedules may be the same.
