TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi commented on the alleged hacking of 6 million taxpayer-identification numbers (NPWP) on the dark web by hacker Bjorka. The leaked data is said to include those of the president, his sons Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Kaesang Pangarep, and a number of other public officials.
Jokowi said data leaks must be prevented or mitigated. "I have said that everything must be mitigated," Jokowi said after a working visit to the Dukuh Kupang market in Surabaya on September 20.
Mitigation must be done immediately, Jokowi said. He added that many countries, not just Indonesia, had also suffered data leaks.
"Many countries have experienced the same thing, what is important is that it must be mitigated as soon as possible," said the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia.
The alleged data breach was reported by the owner of Ethical Hacker Indonesia, Teguh Aprianto, in his upload on the X account @secgron, Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He said that the data allegedly leaked by Bjorka was not only NPWP, but also Population Identification Number (NIK), mobile phone number, email address, and even home address.
"The NPWP of Jokowi, Gibran, Kaesang, Menkominfo (Minister of Communications and Informatics), Sri Mulyani and other ministers were also leaked in the samples provided by the perpetrator," the tweet said.
Teguh said the 6,663,379 NPWP records were being offered for US$10,000 or about Rp150 million. He included a screenshot of Bjorka's upload on Breach Forums, which provided 10,000 sample data with a total file size of 2 GB.
His tweet also said that the fields in the sample included NIK, NPWP, name, address, exact locations, business field classifications, tax service offices, regional offices, place and date of birth, taxable entrepreneur status, and others.
Monitoring of the top 25 sample data revealed the names of officials including President Jokowi, Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, President Jokowi's son Kaesang Pangarep, Minister of Communications and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
