TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yet another cybersecurity concern has emerged with the alleged sale of 6 million Indonesian taxpayer-identification numbers (NPWPs), including that of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, for approximately Rp150 million. This information was based on an upload by a hacker account named Bjorka on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
The leaked data reportedly includes sensitive information such as National Identity Numbers (NIKs), NPWPs, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and potentially more.
“NPWPs belonging to President Jokowi, Gibran, Kaesang, the Minister of Communication and Information, Sri Mulyani, and other government officials are included in the samples provided by the perpetrator,” cybersecurity consultant Teguh Aprianto (@secgron) shared his findings on the X platform.
Teguh uploaded a screenshot showcasing some of the data fields within the samples. These fields included NIK, NPWP, name, address details (village, district, city, province), internal codes, tax office names, regional office names, phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, date of birth, registration date, taxpayer status, taxpayer inauguration date, taxpayer type, legal entity (if applicable), and a list of the top 25 names included in the 10,000 samples.
This alleged leak has sparked public outcry. Many netizens expressed concern and some questioned the response from the Minister of Communication and Information.
Others speculated that this data leak might be an attempt to divert public attention from ongoing controversies, such as the case of the Fufufafa Kaskus account allegedly belonging to Gibran Rakabuming, the use of a private jet by Kaesang Pangarep, and the reopening of sea sand exports.
The Directorate of Cyber Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (@CCICPolri) acknowledged the situation. “Hello, cyber friends, thank you for the information. We will conduct an in-depth investigation into the case in question. If you have any further information to be followed up, please contact us through https://patrolisiber.id,” their official account stated.
