TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysia has launched a series of durian-themed tour packages to entice tourists and promote local tourism. These packages, offered by 27 tour operators across 12 states, combine durian experiences with other activities, such as glamping and jungle trekking.
As reported by The Star, Deputy Director-General of Tourism Malaysia Saidi Bundan said that the packages cover the states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Kelantan, Sabah, Negri Sembilan, and Kuala Lumpur.
The prices start from RM70, or approximately Rp246,000, for simple durian tasting experiences and reach up to RM4,450 or around Rp15.5 million for luxurious three-day, two-night packages in locations like Bentong Bilut Hills, Pahang.
“Durian tourism thrives in Malaysia, particularly during the harvest season from late May to August. This trend underscores the fruit's allure and cultural importance, with the new packages offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in local traditions,” said Akbal Setia, Vice President of Tourism Malaysia Americas.
Recommended Durian Tour Packages
One recommended package is the Penang Golf Experience, offering a four-night stay at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort, including a round of golf and a durian tasting session.
For those seeking a more immersive experience, the Minimalist Forest Glamping package provides a two-night stay in a jungle chalet, complete with a hot spring bath and a durian Nasi Lemak lunch.
Malaysia aims to attract over 27 million foreign tourists this year, with four million expected to come from Indonesia alone. These durian-themed packages are part of the country's strategy to boost tourism and showcase its rich cultural heritage.
