TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) carried 92,000 passengers aboard its Whoosh high-speed train during the Eid al Adha long weekend from June 15 to 18. Throughout the period, Whoosh carried an average of 19,000 to 21,000 passengers per day.
"The peak period was Saturday, June 15, when 21,000 passengers boarded the train," KCIC corporate communications manager Emir Monti said in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday, June 19.
Emir said that the total passenger volume during the long Eid al-Adha holiday increased by about 25 percent compared to normal days.
KCIC provides 28,848 seats daily by operating 48 Whoosh high-speed train trips during the long Idul Adha holiday. "There were 24 trips from Halim and 24 trips from Tegalluar, bringing the total to 48 trips during the Eid al-Adha period," he said.
Since its launch on October 17, 2023, the Whoosh fast train has so far carried a total of 3.5 million passengers. Emir said this achievement reflects the public's high demand for a modern public transportation system with efficient travel times and comfort.
"KCIC will continue to provide the best service to ensure that Whoosh remains the first choice for people traveling between Jakarta and Bandung," Emir said.
