TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bali's most famous areas like Ubud, Kuta and Seminyak are very rarely not packed with tourists. But the island of the gods still has many sightseeing spots relatively unknown to non-locals that offer the typical Balinese experience in a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.
The following are six of these hidden gems Tempo recommends, listed from various sources.
- Sukasada Garden
Sukasada Garden, also known as Ujung Karangasem Park, is a sightseeing spot that rarely receives visitors. In addition to its scenic atmosphere, the garden also offers historical tours that trace the heritage of the Karangasem Kingdom. Located in the Tumbu area of Karangasem Regency, the garden is about two hours from Denpasar city center.
- Savana Tianyar Karangasem
Still in Karangasem Regency, there is an exotic savanna in Tianyar Village, Kubu Regency. Visitors will be greeted by a stretch of grassland with Mount Agung as a backdrop. The color of the savanna changes with the seasons. During the dry season, the grass dries up, making the Tianyar Savana look brown. During the rainy season, the grass flourishes and takes on a lush green color.
- Gili Putih
Bali's beautiful beaches attract thousands of visitors, making it difficult for people to enjoy a relaxing time by the seaside. But the island still has beaches that are rarely visited by tourists. One of them is Gili Putih in North Bali, which, as its name suggests, is a stunning and charming white sand waterfront.
Located in Sumberkima Village, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency, Gili Putih has a white sandy plain that juts out into the sea where visitors can enjoy a closer view of the open sea. The site also offers several fun activities such as canoeing or taking photos at spots provided by the site manager.
- Bias Tugel Beach
Travelers can enjoy the beauty of Bali in private at the pristine Bias Tugel Beach in Padangbai Village, Manggis District, Karangasem Regency. This place is still very natural with coral rocks, stretches of white sand, with the majestic sounds of water blowing against the coral cliffs. One of the coral cliffs is circular, like a small lagoon that is swimmable at low tide. Given the beach's relative privacy, visitors can snorkel, sunbathe, and fish in peace.
- Kasna Flower Field
Kasna Flower Field offers breathtaking views of Edelweiss flower fields and is supported by various instagrammable photo spots. Located in Pempatan, Rendang District, Karangasem Regency, about 2 hours from Denpasar City. Be sure to bring an extra layer of clothing as the temperature in Padang Bunga Kasna is a bit chilly.
- Gembleng Waterfall
Gembleng is a beautiful small waterfall on the eastern side of the island of Bali, rarely visited by tourists. Despite its name, the area is more like an infinity rock pool surrounded by breathtaking panoramas. Located in Tri Eka Buana, Sidemen District, Karangasem Regency, the site requires visitors to climb up and down stairs.
