KPK Requests Budget Allocation Hike by Rp117 Billion

12 June 2024 06:29 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is proposing to increase its budget by Rp117 billion from the total indicative ceiling of Rp1.23 trillion. The proposal was made by KPK acting chairman Nawawi Pomolango during a meeting with the House of Representatives Commission II today, June 11.

Nawawi said the additional budget from the ceiling hike, if approved, would be used for several programs, including Rp65 billion for management support programs and Rp52.11 billion for programs to prevent and prosecute corruption cases.

Nawawi claimed that the KPK's total budget needs in 2025 would actually reach Rp1.35 trillion, above the indicative ceiling allotted.

"Therefore, through this distinguished forum, we propose an additional budget of Rp117 billion to the leadership of the KPK RI Commission and all its members," Nawawi said at the Parliament Hall.

Nawawi also argued that the indicative ceiling allocated to the KPK for 2025 was lower than in previous years. In 2023, he said, the agency was allocated Rp1.31 trillion. In 2024, the KPK received Rp1.37 trillion.

The ceiling hike requested by the KPK is for the budget of its leadership in the next period from 2024 to 2029. The current leaders of the KPK, including Nawawi, will end their terms on December 20 this year and be replaced by new leaders.
