TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's national football team qualified for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Asian Zone qualifiers after beating the Philippines 2-0 at the Gelora Bung Karno or GBK main stadium in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

The two Indonesian goals were scored in each half. Thom Haye opened the scoring for the Garuda squad in the 32nd minute. The second goal was scored by Rizky Ridho in the 56th minute.

With this result, Shin Tae-yong's team secured second place in Group F of the Asian Zone's 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign. It is impossible for Vietnam (6 points) to catch up with them (10 points), who will play Iraq on Wednesday morning.

1. Iraq: 5 games, 5 wins, 15 points (already qualified as group winners)
2. Indonesia: 6 matches, 3 wins, 10 points
3. Vietnam: 5 matches, 2 wins, 6 points
4. Philippines: 6 matches, 0 wins, 1 point.

Other Qualified Teams

Indonesia qualified for the third round along with Iraq from Group F. Meanwhile, the following teams also qualified from other groups: Qatar, Japan, South Korea, China, Oman, Iran, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Australia and Palestine. Three additional tickets are still up for grabs.

The third round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup will be a competition for tickets to the World Cup finals. The 18 qualifying teams will then be divided into three groups of six teams each.

The top two teams in each group will qualify for the six-team final round. The third- and fourth-placed teams advance to the fourth round.

In the fourth round, the six qualifying teams will be divided into two groups. The group winner will qualify for the final round, while the two runners-up will compete in a fifth-round, two-legged playoff for inter-confederation playoff tickets.
