13 Countries Advance to Round 3 of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, Indonesia Still Fighting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thirteen countries have advanced to the third round of Asian Zone qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the fifth matchday of the second round on Thursday, June 6. Top contenders such as Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia all secured points at the top of their respective groups.
The countries that have qualified for the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers are:
- Qatar
- Japan
- South Korea
- Oman
- Iran
- Iraq
- Saudi Arabia
- Jordan
- United Arab Emirates
- Bahrain
- Australia
- Palestine
- Uzbekistan
There are still three remaining spots in the third round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian zone, in which seven countries in three groups are competing, including Indonesia in Group F.
Iraq sealed their place at the top of Group F with a 2-0 win over Indonesia last night. Meanwhile, Vietnam kept their hopes of qualifying for the next round alive with a 3-2 win over the Philippines.
Indonesia and the Philippines will battle it out for a place in the next round. Indonesia, who are currently second in the group, have seven points from five matches, ahead of Vietnam with six points.
On the sixth matchday, Indonesia will need to secure full points against the Philippines to advance in a match on June 11, which will be broadcast live by RCTI starting at 19:30. Vietnam will play Iraq on June 12 and need to beat Iraq to keep their chances alive.
