Elon Musk Named World's Richest Person in June 2024; Here's the Forbes Billionaires List

TEMPO.CO, JakartaElon Musk, the founder of U.S. tech giant Tesla, is named the richest person in the world in June 2024, according to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires. He surpassed business tycoon Bernard Arnault & Family, who is the owner of the world's largest luxury goods company, Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH).

The well-known American business magazine, Forbes, updates its list of the richest conglomerates in the world on a daily and monthly basis, which is accessible via its official page.

Here is the list of the richest people in the world in June 2024:

1. Elon Musk (US$210.3 Billion)

Elon Musk tops the list with a total net worth of US$210.3 billion. He also founded SpaceX, a company that makes rockets and spacecraft and owns the social media company X, formerly Twitter. He also has shares in both companies.

2. Bernard Arnault & Family (US$201.9 Billion)

Bernard Arnault & Family comes in second, with a net worth of US$201.9 billion. His company LVMH manages about 70 well-known luxury fashion and cosmetics in the world, such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Moet & Chandon, and Sephora, as well as Tiffany & Co. which was acquired in January 2021 for US$15.8 billion.

3. Jeff Bezos (US$194.5 Billion)

Jeff Bezos, the founder of the world’s largest e-commerce company Amazon, takes the third spot. He was the CEO of the company until July 2021. However, he decided to step down and serve as the executive chairman of Amazon.

He also owns a media company The Washington Post and Blue Origin, a space company that develops rockets. He even flew into space in July 2021.

4. Mark Zuckerberg (US$163.8 Billion)

Mark Zuckerberg is an American entrepreneur who started his business at the age of 19, which is a social media platform, Facebook, in 2004. His business continued to grow and now has several new platforms under the parent company he founded called Meta. These social media platforms are Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads.

5. Larry Ellison (US$146.2 Billion)

Larry Ellison founded the software company Oracle in 1977 and served as its CEO for 37 years, until 2014. He is now the chairman and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the technology company.

The US tycoon has also ventured into investments, including a substantial stake in Tesla, where he served on the board of directors from 2018 to 2020.

6. Larry Page (US$142.9 Billion)

Larry Page co-founded Google in 1998, along with his Stanford classmate, Sergey Brin. He served as the CEO until 2001 and became CEO of Alphabet, Google's parent company in 2019 but remains a board member and a controlling shareholder.

7. Warren Buffett (US$137 Billion)

Warren Buffett rounds out the top seven of the richest people in the world in June 2024. Known as the 'Oracle of Omaha', Buffett is one of the most successful investors of all time and runs an investment conglomerate business at Berkshire Hathaway company.
