TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will welcome a visit from the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development or OECD, Mathias Cormann, at the Bogor Presidential Palace today, Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
"President Jokowi is scheduled to receive Mr. Mathias Cormann, Secretary General of the OECD," confirmed Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana via short message on Tuesday.
OECD has opened the discussion on Indonesia's membership accession as a continuation of its increased involvement and cooperation as one of the Main Partner countries since 2007.
After the discussion, Indonesia must design an accession road map for the technical review process considered by the OECD Council at its next meeting.
Jokowi's administration targets Indonesia to enter the OECD within three years. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who serves as Chief Executive for the Acceleration of OECD Membership, is currently drafting a memorandum that must be completed in the next 250 to 280 days.
Airlangga said the memorandum would consist of documents covering the entire OECD steering committee, in several fields such as finance, economics, anti-corruption, healthy competition, detailed consumer policies, and digital technology.
The minister also advised Jokowi to form a Project Management Office (PMO) under his leadership to oversee Indonesia’s full membership accession process in the OECD.
