KAI Readies 20 Additional Trains for Vesak Day Long Weekend

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian railways company or KAI is providing 20 additional trains for the Vesak Day holiday from May 22 to 26, 2024. KAI VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said the additional trains will anticipate the surge in customers.
Based on monitoring on May 21, the total number of train tickets sold for departures from May 22-26 was 455,378 tickets. On average, the number of tickets sold each day of the long weekend reached 91,076 tickets.
"This accounted for 62 percent of the total number of train tickets on sale, amounting to 740,301 tickets," said Joni on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He said the ticket sales figure potentially increases over the holiday. He also revealed an increase of passengers for departure on May 22 with 112,857 people.
Joni urged prospective passengers who wish to travel during the holiday to purchase their tickets through official channels, such as Access by KAI. Meanwhile, citizens’ favorite routes during the long Vesak Day holiday period include Jakarta-Surabaya (round trip), Jakarta-Solo (round trip), Jakarta-Malang (round trip), Yogyakarta-Banyuwangi (round trip), and Blitar-Bandung (round trip).

- Manahan Train serving the Solo Balapan-Gambir route, operating from May 22-27.
- Manahan Train serving the Gambir-Solo Balapan connection, operating from May 22-28
- Lodaya Train serving the Bandung-Solo Balapan connection, operating on May 22, May 23 and May 26
- Lodaya Train serving the Solo Balapan-Bandung connection, operating on May 22, May 23, and May 26
- Taksaka Train connecting Gambir-Yogyakarta route, operating from May 22-26
- Taksaka train connecting Yogyakarta-Gambir, operating from May 23-27
- Argo Parahyangan Train serving the Bandung-Gambir connection, operating from May 22-26
- Argo Parahyangan Train serving the Gambir-Bandung connection, operating from May 22-26
- Argo Cheribon train serving the Cirebon-Gambir, operating from May 22-26
- Argo Cheribon train, Gambir-Cirebon, only operates on May 26
- Arjuno Express train, Surabaya Gubeng-Malang, operating from May 23-27
- Arjuno Express train, Malang-Surabaya Gubeng, operating from May 23-27
