TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka met with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi at the State Palace in Central Jakarta for two hours after they were officially declared as the elected president and vice president on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
The meeting between the Defense Minister, the Solo Mayor, and the President lasted until around 21:40 WIB (Western Indonesia Time), amid a heavy downpour.
The former commander of the Army's Special Forces, Prabowo, was spotted leaving the State Palace complex in a white Toyota Alphard with license plate number B 108 PSD via the Bali Gate or VIP access on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, escorted by a convoy of vehicles.
The content of the meeting was not yet known. Some palace officials and individuals close to Prabowo have not yet responded to Tempo's questions about the meeting as of this morning, April 25.
Earlier on Wednesday, April 24, the General Elections Commission (KPU) officially announced Prabowo and Gibran as the winners of the 2024 presidential election, declaring them to be the elected president and vice president. Their inauguration is scheduled for October 20.
