TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi is scheduled to hold an open house at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Eid. The gathering in the Eid tradition will be open to the community.
On Tuesday, April 9, an Isbat meeting will be held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs to determine when the first day of Shawwal will be. Yusuf Permana, head of the Presidential Secretariat's Protocol Bureau, said the plan for now is to hold the open house on Wednesday, April 10.
Yusuf said the palace would be open to the public and state officials from 09:00. There are no invitations, so they can just come to the palace to meet the president and say their Eid greetings.
"But of course, visitors must be orderly and follow the rules that apply in the palace," Yusuf said at the Presidential Palace Complex on April 8. "However, we are flexible and not too rigid about the rules, considering that this is Eid al-Fitr, a day of togetherness."
On the same occasion, the head of the presidential secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, said that residents must wear neat, loose clothing, without jeans, and shoes. He added that the palace had not yet decided how long the open house would last.
President Jokowi has confirmed that he will celebrate Eid at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. Last year, Jokowi and his family celebrated Eid at his residence in Surakarta City.
On this occasion, there are no special plans to meet with specific national or political figures. "There is no plan, it's just normal," Jokowi said when met after visiting Pasar Senen train station in Central Jakarta on Monday, April 8.
