TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed Easter greetings to all Indonesian Christians celebrating on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
"Happy Easter 2024 to all Indonesian Christians," he said through an illustrated picture on his official Instagram account on Sunday.
The picture showed residents of all ages gathered merrily in front of a cathedral. In the center, a figure resembling Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, dressed in a white shirt and blue hat, photographed Jokowi and the residents.
"We hope the spirit of Easter always brings peace and good to all of us," Jokowi remarked.
Meanwhile, Archbishop of Jakarta Ignatius Cardinal Suharyo, in his Pontifical Easter Mass at Jakarta Cathedral on Sunday, reminded Christians to be more mindful of each other and their environment.
He also called on Christians to abandon greed, which can cause calamity to oneself and others, and utilize the Easter momentum to return to Christ.
