KAI Offers 49 Additional Intercity Train Trips Ahead of Easter Holiday, Long Weekend

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian railways company PT KAI has increased the number of intercity train schedules to anticipate the Easter holiday and long weekend surges during March 29-31, 2024. 

This weekend, PT KAI will operate 924 train trips, a 49 additional trips increase compared to the previous week. 

"The additional number of train trips is part of KAI's commitment to improve customer service, especially during high seasons such as this long holiday," said KAI VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus in a written statement on Wednesday. 

As of Wednesday afternoon, March 27, 2024, around  76,281 train tickets were sold. This figure was a 14 percent increase compared to the previous week, where on Thursday, March 21, the number of tickets sold was 67,039 tickets. 

Meanwhile, the number of tickets sold for the period of Thursday 28 to Sunday, March 31, 2024, reached 274,769 tickets, or 45 percent of the total 606,432 tickets provided. 

"Passengers who do not yet have tickets, can immediately buy them either through the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, or other channels in collaboration with KAI," said Joni. 

If tickets have run out, customers can choose alternative dates and routes or utilize the Connecting Train feature in the Access by KAI application which will help provide travel options by combining connecting train schedules. 

According to Joni, people's favorite routes during the Easter and long weekend holiday so far are Jakarta - Surabaya round trip, Jakarta - Solo round trip, Yogyakarta - Banyuwangi round trip, Bandung - Blitar round trip, Surabaya - Banyuwangi round trip, and other relations.
