TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Indonesian Military or TNI's Information Center, Maj. Gen. Nugraha Gumilar confirmed a fire and explosion at an ammunition depot owned by TNI at Batalyon Artileri Medan (Yonarmed) 07/155 GS Kodam Jaya in Bantargebang-Bekasi, West Java on Saturday, March 30.

In a video circulating on social media, smoke appears to be coming from a building. At the bottom of the smoke, a fire could be seen starting to burn. Soon after, the smoke spread further, followed by the sound of an explosion.

A number of residents around the video recorder could be heard calling for Takbir. In another video, a fire truck can be seen driving toward the scene.

Bekasi Metro Police Chief Dani Hamdani said briefly that the incident occurred in Bogor Regency. He said he was communicating with the Bogor Regency police to investigate the cause of the explosion.

"Yes, it's in Bogor Regency. We're also communicating," he told Tempo in a phone call on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
