TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ten Indonesian art and cultural studios dazzled the main stage of the Hong Kong Flower Show (HKFS) 2024 on Sunday, March 24, 2023.
For an hour, thousands of HKFS 2024 visitors were entertained by various traditional dances and angklung (Indonesian traditional bamboo instrument) performances that brought Indonesia's cultural richness closer to them. Indonesian art and cultural performances have always been one of the main attractions at the HKFS.
According to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia showcased various types of dances in KHFS 2024. Those include dances from North Sumatra, West Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, and Bali, with the backdrop of each region's tourist destinations. The performance concluded with a colossal dance accompanied by the song “Gemu Fa Mi Re" from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, in line with the theme of Indonesia's booth at this HKFS.
Most of the performers were Indonesian Migrant Workers in Hong Kong. To prepare for this grand performance, the migrant workers have regularly practiced at Victoria Park, amidst their busy work schedules.
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong, Yul Edison, as well as the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) of East Nusa Tenggara, Bobby Lianto have also attended the Indonesian art and cultural performance during the HKFS 2024.
The Hong Kong Flower Show is one of the most popular exhibitions in Hong Kong, with hundreds of thousands of visitors attending each year.
This year, Indonesia showcased the culture of NTT as its booth theme, featuring displays of Komodo statues and miniature Mbaru Niang houses, which became favorites among visitors for photos.
The ministry explained on its website that NTT was chosen due to its status as one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (New Bali) and as the host region of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in 2023.
