TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) stated that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia has inaugurated M Tabrani, an Indonesian Language Pioneer and Youth Movement figure, as a National Hero.
"Alhamdulillah, Muhammad Tabrani was designated as a National Hero on November 10, 2023," said Secretary of the Ministry's Language Development and Guidance Agency Hafidz Muksin in Pangkalpinang, Friday, March 8.
He said M Tabrani was appointed a National Hero through Presidential Decree Number 115/TK/Year 2023.
"We must be familiar with history, how October 28, 1928, was a youth oath, and how the role of the Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia) is very important as a nation's unifier," he said.
He said the role of Indonesians at that time was the beginning of this nation interpreting the important role of language in the unity of implementing the life of the nation and state.
"There was a figure named M Tabrani who fought for Indonesian to become the language of unity," he said.
He is very grateful for M Tabrani's service in uniting and igniting the spirit of Indonesian youth in fighting colonialism in Indonesia.
M Tabrani, a persistent supporter of the youth movement, promoted Bahasa Indonesia at the Youth Congress until the birth of the 1928 Youth Pledge, with the third oath, "We Sons and Daughters of Indonesia Uphold the Language of Unity, Bahasa Indonesia."
"May his services be a charity and good deed in the sight of Allah The Almighty," he said.
