TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) Suhartoyo ensures that his side is ready to handle potential requests for disputes over general election results (PHPU). "We are (ready)," Suhartoyo said when met in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday evening, March 6, 2024.
Meanwhile, running presidential pairs can submit PHPU applications to MK. The deadline is a maximum of three days after KPU announces the results of the presidential election on March 20, 2024.
Suhartoyo said that MK always held simulations of election disputes. "We have a task force consisting of 600 employees, each of whom has a special task that has been plotted in detail, which we periodically simulate," said Suhartoyo.
The constitutional justice continued that the Constitutional Court has also mitigated the lawsuit potential in accordance with the previous election process. Suhartoyo then compared the 2024 presidential election with previous years, where only two pairings contested "Will there be more than one pair filing a lawsuit or not? We don't know," said Suhartoyo.
In its official statement, the Constitutional Court held a grand simulation of support for handling the 2024 PHPU case last Wednesday in Jakarta. Secretary General of MK Heru Setiawan said that this grand simulation involved the entire task force by presenting the head and deputy head of the field at each stage.
At the pre-registration stage of the election dispute, a role play was carried out starting from the submission of the application, registration, and data processing. In addition, a simulation of the post-registration and post-decision stages for the dispute was also carried out.
