TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia or InJourney as the 2024 Lake Toba F1 Powerboat championship organizers claim this year's event was better compared to the last.
The Director of Marketing and Tourism Programs of InJourney Maya Watono said the competition schedule was right on time. "We're all very proud of the success of this year's championship. Last year's championship was hindered by bad weather," Maya said during the F1 Powerboat press conference in Balige Toba Regency, North Sumatra on Sunday.
Reflecting on last year, InJourney along with H2O Racing agreed to adjust the race schedule to morning at the Mulia Raja Napitupulu Port. "We learned from last year to shift the race to morning considering more stable waves," Maya said.
The event improvement, she went on, was also conducted to encourage those who came for F1 Powerboat to also watch the national aquabike championship and the Solu Bolon rowing competition.
By organizing the side events, InJourney hoped tourists and audiences were entertained more which in turn could positively impact the economy. Maya added that last year, the F1 Powerboat managed to garner Rp1.6 trillion of economic impact, which is expected to increase by 10 to 20 percent.
She was optimistic after directly witnessing the spike in passengers at Sisingamangaraja XII/Silangit International Airport these past few days. In addition, the MSMEs involvement provided more activities for tourists and audiences to explore.
Maya encouraged all parties, especially communities, to help promote F1 Powerboat to boost both domestic and foreign tourists to visit the world's biggest volcanic lake.
After the Lake Toba Series, F1 Powerboat championship will be held in Vietnam.
