TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia's flight QZ 860 on the Jakarta-Labuan Bajo route overshot the taxiway and skidded off the track towards the apron at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on February 19, 2024.
The low-cost carrier’s spokesperson, Ageng Wibowo Leksono, confirmed that the plane had veered off the taxiway after a flawless landing. “All passengers and crew are safe,” Ageng said on Monday.
He mentioned that the flight carried 151 passengers and landed at 10:20 Central Indonesian Time (WITA). “All crew and passengers have been confirmed safe and successfully evacuated,” he added.
The aircraft was also evacuated efficiently and moved to the B2 parking area. “The evacuation process took approximately 50 minutes. The runway was clear and was able to resume normal operations.”
Ageng said the airline’s team was collaborating with the airport authority to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, which delayed the next flight QZ681 on the Labuan Bajo-Jakarta route for several hours.
Passengers, he added, received compensation for the delay in line with the Transportation Minister’s Regulation No. 89/2015.
“Indonesia AirAsia remains committed to achieving the highest safety standards in all of its operations and will continue to monitor the situation to provide regular updates,” Ageng said.
