TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the General Elections Supervisory Agency, or Bawaslu, Rahmat Bagja welcomed anyone to audit the Recapitulation Information System or Sirekap application.
“Please do, KPU (General Elections Commission) is open. I’m sure Mr. Hasyim (KPU Chair) and his friends at KPU are willing to be audited. I have faith in that,” Rahmat Bagja said on Friday, February 16, 2024, responding to several recommendations to audit Sirekap.
Allegations of marked-up votes in the Sirekap application went viral earlier on X (formerly Twitter), where the data uploaded was read differently by the application, showing bigger numbers than it actually was.
Responding to the situation, Bawaslu's head explained that Sirekap was a newly established system, causing possibilities of error. “Don’t think of it as marked-up votes, Sirekap is a new system and I believe trial and error is inevitable. We hope this issue would not be blown up,” he said.
Bagja urged citizens to contribute to supervising the Sirekap application. Bawaslu, he said, will also deploy a team to supervise the app at the national level.
Citing the KPU website, the Sirekap application was developed and utilized by KPU for vote counting. Based on KPU Decision No. 66 of 2024, Sirekap is an information technology-based application as a platform to publish the vote counting results and the recapitulation of the vote counting.
Citizens are welcomed to observe directly the vote counting development at https://pemilu2024.kpu.go.id/.
