TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka confirmed that he will vote in the upcoming 2024 general elections in Solo, Central Java. He said his father, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi, and other members of his family will not cast their ballot in Solo.
“Yes, [I’ll vote] in Solo,” Gibran told journalists on Monday, Feb. 12.
The upcoming general elections will be held simultaneously with the presidential poll, where three pairs of presidential and vice presidential hopefuls are running for office. Among these candidates is Gibran, who is Prabowo Subianto's running mate against Anies Baswedan - Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo - Mahfud Md.
Gibran said he has received the formal letter to vote from the Regional Election Commission (KPU) of Solo City and will come to the polling station with his wife, Selvi Ananda.
Jokowi and his younger brother, Kaesang Pangarep, will cast their votes at a different polling station outside Solo.
Previously, Solo KPU chairman Bambang Christanto confirmed that the Solo Mayor and wife are registered in the final voter list (DPT) at the polling place or TPS 34 Manahan, Laweyan District.
“Gibran Rakabuming Raka and his wife, Selvi Ananda, will exercise their right to vote at TPS 34, Manahan District,” said Bambang.
