North Sumatra Will Deploy Over 8,000 Police Officers to Secure Voting Places

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The North Sumatra Regional Police will deploy 8,152 personnel to polling places or TPS on voting day. The officers are tasked with securing 45,875 polling stations throughout the province.
North Sumatra Police's PR chief Sr. Comr. Hadi Wahyudi told Antara yesterday that each officer has to make sure the process of voting is safe so that the overall implementation of the election runs smoothly.
"We also received assistance from the community protection team (Linmas), which will help secure TPS, 102,870 personnel in total," he said on Thursday, February 8.
The police will also receive help from 1,162 Sabhara personnel and 1,000 mobile brigade or BRIMOB officers.
Previously, the TNI Commander of KodamI/Bukit Barisan, Maj. Gen. Mochammad Hasan, said that 15,000 TNI soldiers from the army, navy, and air force will maintain the security of the 2024 elections in his command area, which covers North Sumatra, Riau, West Sumatra, and the Riau Islands.
