TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government decided to cancel the Car Free Day (CFD) event this Sunday, February 11, 2024, as the 2024 general election has entered the cooling-off period.
“In the event of the cooling-off period of the 2024 election campaign, the provincial government is eliminating the Car Free Day (CFD) in all areas of the capital on Sunday, February 11, 2024,” as announced by the Jakarta Traffic Police's Instagram account @tmcpoldametrojaya.
As reported in the official statement, the activity is per the KPU Regulation No. 15 of 2023 concerning the general election campaigns.
This elimination also referred to the Jakarta Governor’s Regulation No. 12 of 2016 concerning the implementation of Car Free Days.
President Joko Widodo or Jokowi declared the 2024 voting day on February 14 as a national holiday to give people the opportunity to exercise their right to vote. This was stipulated in Presidential Decree No. 10 of 2024.
