TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A British tourist in Bali has caused a stir on the internet since her video of discovering hundreds of spiders and webs on the side of the road went viral on social media platforms, particularly TikTok.
Grace Kelly, 33, posted a short video of hundreds of spiders in the web stretching all the way from the ground to the power lines about 20 meters along the roadside before an abandoned building in Kintamani last week. She said that she encountered the natural yet bizarre phenomenon while on the drive between Ubud and Mount Batur.
“I spotted it from the car window and asked the guide to turn around because I couldn’t believe what I had seen,” the traveler said in the follow-up video.
“I’m absolutely terrified of spiders but I think the awe took over and I knew I wanted to capture it as it was so out of this world. Also, they were very still which made me less uneasy. I didn’t get too close.” she told Australian news site news.com.au.
Kelly described the creepy scene as looking like “the world’s best Halloween decorations”.
The TikTok video has been viewed more than 42 million times and received more than 96,000 comments in one week.
The content creator also reminded people not to let her experience deter them from visiting Bali, which she described as 'the most beautiful place' and that the spider nest was 'not very common'.
“I’m reassuring others not to be put off by visiting Bali as they’re so unlikely to come across this due to its location. It was such a cool experience to add to my trip,” said the British traveler.
