TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Islam is one of the largest religions in the world with the number of followers reaching 1.9 billion people.
The number of followers of Islam is spread across many countries, including Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, which have the majority of Muslim population. Even so, the economic income scale of these two countries are very different.
Each Muslim-majority countries has its own and different economic level. However, some of these countries are among the most richest countries in the world.

1. Qatar
Sitting at first place, the richest Muslim-majority country is Qatar. Qatar is a country with a population of 1.7 million people. In 2011, Qatar's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita was around US$88,919 which made it one of the countries with the fastest economic growth in the world. Qatar's income is influenced by export production from natural gas, oil and petrochemicals.
2. Kuwait
Kuwait is in second place as the richest Muslim majority country with a population of 3.5 million people. Similar to Qatar, in 2011 this country's GDP per capita was $54,664 dollars and had crude oil reserves of 104 million barrels. Kuwait's economy is also supported through the shipping industry, financial and financial services.
3. Brunei Darussalam
In 2010, Brunei Darussalam achieved a GDP per capita of S$50,506 dollars. Brunei is the third richest Muslim majority country. Its wealth is supported by superior oil and natural gas fields that have been operating for 80 years. This country also contributes 90 percent of hydrogen resource exports. Brunei is the ninth largest exporter of liquefied natural gas in the world and the fourth largest exporter of oil.
4. United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The United Arab Emirates is the fourth richest Muslim country in the world. Likewise, Brunei is supported by the oil and gas industry. In 2011, the UAE had a GDP of 48,222 dollars contributed through exports of petroleum and natural gas.
5. Oman
Oman is the fifth richest Muslim country in the world with oil reserves of 5.5 billion barrels or 816,000 barrels per day. In 2011, the country had a GDP per capita of 28,880 dollars. Oman's gas reserves are known to reach 849.5 billion cubic meters. This country also has other resources as income for other countries such as copper, gold, zinc and iron.
6. Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has occupied the sixth position of the richest Muslim majority country in the world. Saudi Arabia had a GDP per capita of 24,434 dollars in 2011. Arabia is the second largest oil producing country in the world.
7. Bahrain
In seventh place, the richest Muslim majority country in the world is Bahrain. Bahrain had a GDP per capita of 23,690 dollars in 2011 making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Bahran's export products include aluminum, petroleum and construction materials.
