Bluebird to Provide Environmentally Friendly Public Transport in IKN

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - IKN Authority stated that the progress of autonomous vehicles in the Nusantara capital city or IKN. Deputy of the Green and Digital Transformation Department Mohammed Ali Berawi said two local companies will be involved in the development, namely Damri and Bluebird.
Responding to this statement, Executive Director of PT Blue Bird Adrianto Djokosoetono said his side is always open to presenting environmentally friendly public transport in IKN.
"We are not closed to various types of transportation mode, which in the future will be showcased in IKN since it's relevant," said Andre, Adrianto's nickname in a press conference on Thursday in Jakarta.
Bluebird, Andre said, is committed to supporting the vision of IKN. Bluebird has invested Rp250 billion for this project.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi mentioned Bluebird would bring electric rapid transit buses, electric taxis, electric rental cars, and electric public buses to connect Balikpapan and IKN.
"The launch of this environmentally friendly transport will accelerate the development of electric-based public transport in IKN," he said.
The investment, according to Bluebird, will also be used to develop supporting transportation facilities and infrastructures. The management of these supporting facilities will be integrated with smart technology. The infrastructure includes bus stops, park and ride, transfer points, and depo.
