TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An International Driving License or International Driving Permit (IDP) is a document issued by certain countries that allows the holder to drive in other countries with certain validity.

For those who plan to drive abroad, an International Driver's License is very important because it can help simplify the driving permit process and prevent legal problems.

However, before getting an International Driver's License, there are several requirements that must be met. Here's how to make an International Driver's License in Indonesia and what the requirements are.

Requirements for Making an International Driver's License

To get an International Driver's License, there are several requirements that must be met. According to the official National Police Traffic Corps International Driver's License website, the general requirements include:

1. Latest self-photo with the following conditions: (the photo should show 2 upper buttons of your shirt/dress, the background color should be white, do not wear white color shirt and/or hijab, no glasses, face facing the camera, no contact lenses/soft lenses, the photo should not be a black and white photo, teeth should not be visible)

2. ID card

3. KITAP (foreigners only)

4. Valid passport

5. Valid driver's license (according to the international driver's license class that will be applied for)

6. Your signature on a white paper using black ink

7. Valid International Driver's License (for extension only)

How to Make an International Driver's License

After ensuring that all requirements and documents have been met, the next step is to submit an application for an International Driver's License.

The process of making an International Driver's License can usually be done at the local Police Traffic Unit office or visit the site siminternasional.korlantas.polri.go.id

1. Open the siminternasional.korlantas.polri.go.id page in your browser.

2. Register according to the procedures and requirements on the site.

3. Fill out the online registration form and upload soft copies of photos, signatures, driver's license, ID card, KITAP (for foreigners only), and passport.

4. Choose how to collect/deliver the International Driver's License Book.

5. Fill in the Refund Account Data. If the applicant's data does not match, the PNBP fee will be refunded.

6. Applicants will receive a Virtual Account Number on the Website and Payment Confirmation in Email. Make payment immediately according to the nominal amount stated.

7. After making payment, the applicant gets a Registration Number in the Proof of Registration email
Manufacturing Costs.

According to the official website of the National Police Traffic Corps' International Driver's License, the following are the costs to make an International Driver's License:

1. The cost of making a new international Driver's License is Rp250,000.

2. The cost of making an extended international Driver's License is Rp225,000.

(Based on PP No.60/2016 concerning types and rates for types of non-tax state revenue that apply to the National Police)

If the data is incomplete or inappropriate, the International Driver's License registration will be canceled and the fees that have been sent will be returned with an administration fee charged to the applicant in accordance with applicable regulations.
