KAI: LRT Jabodebek Passengers Increase by 33% during Christmas Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) recorded a 33 percent increase in the number of passengers using the LRT Jabodebek, which connects Jakarta with its neighboring cities of Bogor, Depok and Bekasi, during this year's Christmas holidays. Mahendro Trang Bawono, a spokesman for the LRT, said there were an average of 29,971 daily users from December 23 to 26.
“Meanwhile, on the weekends in December, the average daily number of users was 22,523. In total, the LRT Jabodebek served 119,883 users during the Christmas holidays,” Mahendro said in an official statement on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
KAI expressed its gratitude to the people, the government, and all stakeholders. The LRT is committed to providing excellent service to users during the Christmas and New Year holidays. “Moreover, with additional travel and operating hours towards the end of the year,” he added.
During the festive season, the LRT has taken comprehensive measures to ensure passengers' safety and convenience, such as strengthening personnel by deploying additional officers, both frontliners and security officers, at stations and improving facilities.
“Especially for the Christmas and New Year holidays, the LRT Jabodebek has deployed facility maintenance officers on 24-hour standby and has prepared evacuation tools to anticipate emergencies,” Mahendro concluded.
