Indonesian Scholar Named Student of the Year at Russian University

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - M. Indre Wanof, an Indonesian student from Payakumbuh, West Sumatra, was named Student of The Year at Moscow State University of Technology STANKIN, Russia. Indre, aiming to bring good to Indonesia's name in Russia, dedicates his achievements to his late father who died in 2023.
"This success is a symbol of struggle and a tribute to my father," Indre said in a release from the World Indonesian Student Association (PPI Dunia) received in Jakarta, Sunday, December 24.
The university recognizes Indre's contributions and achievements as a student for his activities as a volunteer, his leadership in campus organizations, and his high academic records throughout 2023, all achieved through hard work and dedication.
STAKIN University Chancellor Vladimir Valeryevich Serebryany praised Indre for his achievements. "Getting this award is 100 times more difficult for foreign students because of the language barrier, as they are required to use Russian in every lecture and organizational activity. There are also differences in learning culture and mindset between foreigners and Russians," he said.
Moscow State University of Technology STANKIN University is one of the leading universities in Russia known for its innovative academic and research programs. Notable alumni include Mikhail Mishushtin who serves as the current Prime Minister of Russia, and Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Deputy Prime Minister.
