PLN Installs 624 EV Charging Stations to Anticipate Year-End Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s electricity company PLN provided a total of 624 Public Electric Vehicle Charging (SPKLU) distributed across 411 strategic posts in anticipation of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Executive Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo mentioned that his side will commit to supporting the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem by providing SPKLU in Indonesia. PLN is also committed to facilitating electric car users during the upcoming holiday.
“Worry not about battery charging for those who plan to travel by electric vehicle. We provide hundreds of SPKLU, and our officers are ready to provide the best services,” he said in a statement.
PLN expected the Trans Jawa toll road and Trans Sumatra toll road to see the most traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The SPKLU, he said, will be provided in rest areas.
The company has installed over 64 EV Chargers at 38 SPKLUs along the Trans Jawa and Trans Sumatra toll roads.
SPKLU locations are also easily found using the PLN Mobile application, Darmawan added.
PLN also increased the number of EV Chargers in several cities in Indonesia, namely the 26 units of EV Charger in 21 EV charging stations in Banten, 113 EV Chargers in 43 locations in Jakarta, 150 units of EV Chargers in at least 125 locations in West Java.
In anticipation of the Christmas and New Year holidays, PLN also installed around 50 EV Chargers across 34 SPKLU in Central Java and Yogyakarta.
