TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Adi Sumarmo Airport Erick Rofiq Nurdin estimated that compared to the previous year during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the airport will see a 39 percent passenger increase with 60,917 people.
"For plane mobility, we expect a 17 percent spike with a total of 400 flights. Meanwhile, cargo mobility will increase by around 41 percent with a total weight of 119,342 kilograms," Erick said on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023.
At Adi Sumarmo Airport, Surakarta, Central Java, the mobility is expected to peak three days before Christmas. "We estimate that the passenger [mobility] will peak D-3 of Christmas, on Friday, Dec. 22, and D+1 of New Year, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024," he explained.
In addition, several airlines have requested to add flight schedules during the Christmas and New Year holidays, namely Citilink and Batik Air for the routes to and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
"Ahead of the peak season during the Christmas and New Year holidays, we have prepared the measure to anticipate spikes in flight and passenger mobility, departing from and arriving at Adi Sumarmo Airport," he added.
One of the measures taken was the 16-day Integrated Post starting today until the 3rd of January, 2024, to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of the passengers. The post is supported by relevant institutions such as the Indonesian Air Force Base, Ngemplak Sector Police, AirNav Indonesia, National Search and Rescue Agency, Health Quarantine, Pertamina, and others.
"In addition to preparing the integrated posts, we also ensure all airport facilities are top-notch for a secure and comfortable travel," he said.
Erick also ensured that Adi Sumarmo Airport has been declared ready to anticipate Christmas and New Year holiday traffic by the Transportation Ministry.
