14,000 Buses Declared Feasible for Transport Ahead of Christmas and New Year Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Land Transportation through the Land Transportation Management Office conducted a ramp check for inter-city inter-provincial buses (AKAP) and tourism buses. The ramp check was intended to ensure the feasibility of public transportation ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"Ramp check is not only conducted during the Christmas and New Year holidays, but routinely and independently by the bus companies," said the Director of Road Transportation Facility Danto Restyawan in a statement as quoted by Tempo today.
Ramp check has been conducted since the start of November over 21,679 buses. Out of these buses, 14,321 units were declared feasible, 4,610 buses were told to be repaired, and 1,833 buses were barred from operating, while 915 buses were declared not feasible.
"We recommend all bus companies, whether for AKAP buses or tourism buses to ensure the feasibility of its armadas to accommodate transport during Christmas and New Year holidays," Danto said.
People who see to travel by bus during the holidays are also urged to check the preparedness of the buses they are planning to board. The feasibility check could be conducted through the Mitra Darat application.
"We will continue to safeguard, supervise, and monitor the development on the ground. Ramp check will continue to be conducted so Christmas and New Year transport is safe, secure, and comfortable," he concluded.
