TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Traffic Division Chief of the National Police Brigadier General of Police Aan Suhanan stated that his side has prepared traffic diversion on three roads in anticipation of the Christmas and New Year holidays flow of traffic. This measure was part of the Candle Operation 2023 consisting of three clusters.
The first cluster was the Sumatra toll toad to Probolinggo, anticipated for a heavy traffic flow. The police are concerned about several spots in this cluster.
"First is the rest area, we will control the traffic flow there, to avoid disrupting the flow after it," Aan said as quoted from the NTMC Polri website on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023.
The second cluster was arterial roads or tourist routes. The police will implement traffic diversion on this roads including one way to contraflow.
"We are anticipating and conducting coordination meetings to prepare traffic diversion in case of traffic jams on tourist routes," he said.
The third cluster would be the sea-crossing routes. Aan said that the police have anticipated managing the traffic flow to avoid the heavy traffic of vehicles in ports.
"This was one of our concerns whether it was in Merak, Ketapang, Gilimanuk, or other ports. We have prepared an operation to ensure there is no heavy flow at ports and ensuring there are no vehicles stuck at the port," he concluded.
