BMKG Warns of Heavy Rain in Majority of Indonesia Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, or BMKG announced its weather forecast for Monday, Dec. 11, 2023. According to the agency, the majority of Indonesia will be raining with varying intensity today.
"Sumatra will get a drizzle except for South Sumatra, Jambi, Bangka Belitung, West Sumatra, Riau, and Riau Islands which have the potential for medium rain. Heavy rain will pour over North Sumatra and Aceh," wrote BMKG.
In general, Java Island will be partly cloudy, except for East Java with medium rain. A drizzle will greet NTB and NTT today.
Light rain will drizzle over Kalimantan except for South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan with medium rain.
In Sulawesi, medium rain will pour over Southeast Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, and Gorontalo. A downpour will greet South Sulawesi.
Maluku and Papua will get a drizzle, except for West Papua and North Maluku which will be greeted by medium rain. Heavy rain will potentially pour over Papua.
The wind generally moves in the northern part of Indonesia from the northeast to the southeast with a velocity range from 4 to 20 knots. In the southern part of Indonesia, the wind generally moves from east to south with velocity ranges from 4 to 20 knots.
The 2.5 to 4-meter-high waves potentially occur in the Indian Ocean south of West Java to NTB.
Air temperature in Indonesia ranges from 17 to 35 degrees Celsius with air humidity level from 55 to 100 percent.
