TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan said that Palestine is one of the three countries on his priority list to visit if he is elected as the President in 2024. He said that during the rapid question session at the Conference on Indonesian Foreign Policy 2023 (CIFP 2023), on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023.
Anies chose Palestine as a moral support for the country to get true freedom.
“We want to come to Palestine as we will continue to support Palestine’s struggle," he said, answering the question by the chief of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) Dino Patti Djalal at the Grand Sahid Hotel, Central Jakarta.
Anies ensured that Indonesia stands with Palestine. Indonesia, he went on, has been playing an important role, not only present as a participant country. "At the UN assembly, Indonesia brought its ideas for the world.”
He previously said that he would visit the neighboring countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore, or Australia. "Strengthening relationships with the countries that are territorially close to Indonesia starting from Malaysia, Singapore, and even Australia."
Anies said that neighboring countries are the closest friendly countries, so there is no reason not to visit those that are easy to reach. "Visiting our neighbors because they are our closest friends," he remarked.
