Singapore Grants Military Award to Indonesia Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto was conferred The Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (Tentera) award, or Distinguished Service Order (Military) award by the Singaporean government on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023. The award was given to members of the Singapore Armed Forces or military members of its allies for their extraordinary achievements or services in the commando or senior staff position.
"Prabowo Subianto directed closer collaboration between two defense agencies this past few years, despite the Covid-19 pandemic," the presidential palace wrote in a statement.
Prabowo Subianto arrived in Singapore on Tuesday, at around 12:30 p.m. local time. He was welcomed directly by Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen.
The presidential palace noted that it was under Prabowo Subianto’s leadership that the Defense Cooperation Agreement between the two countries was ratified, which it said: “represented a significant milestone in bilateral defense relations”.
Both defense establishments also worked together on multilateral platforms initiated by respective agencies, including the conduct of key bilateral and multilateral exercises such as Safkar Indopura, Minex Pandu, Manyar Indopura, Camar Indopura, and Super Garuda Shield.
The Indonesian Armed Forces and the Singapore Armed Forces also routinely conduct high-level visits and professional exchanges. According to the presidential palace of Singapore, the defense agreement between both countries has been good.
