TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Darmawan Prasodjo, president director of PT PLN (Persero), said that the state power company and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) are preparing the Electricity Supply Business Plan or RUPTL. In the RUPTL, 75 percent of the additional generating capacity will be based on new, renewable energy.
According to Darmawan, this is an acceleration of the energy transition that the government is currently pursuing. "This is an acceleration of the energy transition," said Darmawan at the 78th National Electricity Day Exhibition, at ICE BSD, Tangerang on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Thus, said Darmawan, there will be an additional 75 percent of renewable energy generation, while 25 percent will be gas-based. According to him, this can drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This is also in line with the president's direction that the energy transition will maintain growth momentum while at the same time building national capacity to create jobs. "It will also provide prosperity for the people, while at the same time preserving environmental energy, namely providing clean energy."
Darmawan said that there are two main things in the new RUPTL. The first is the green enabling transmission line. "This transmission will facilitate the addition of 32 gigawatts (GW) from hydro and geothermal [power plants]," said Darmawan.
The second one, he said, is the design and development of State of The Art Smartgreen, which includes flexible power generation transmission, smart distribution and smart meters. "Thus, it will facilitate development, by raising it from just 5 gigawatts of solar to 28 gigawatts of solar."
