TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Head of the Jakarta Health Agency, Ani Ruspitawati, said the agency found five more cases of monkeypox or mpox on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 23-24. The new cases brought the total number of active confirmed cases to 12.
“There have been additional cases in the last two days, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 12 in 2023,” Ani said in a press statement, on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
According to her, the provincial government through the Health Agency continues to suppress disease transmission through various methods, such as socializing early detection and raising awareness of finding cases among health workers in all health facilities.
In addition, the agency is coordinating with the Health Ministry regarding the detection, recording, and reporting of Monkeypox cases in the capital. This includes following up on the finding of suspected, probable, or confirmed cases from health facilities.
“We are also carrying out 1 x 24-hour investigations including close contact tracing to suppress the spread of cases,” she said.
Ani explained the Jakarta Regional General Hospital (RSUD) and the Prof. Dr. Sulianti Saroso Infectious Disease Hospital (RSPI) are the referral hospitals for confirmed monkeypox patients to receive further treatment.
