Presidential Election: Ganjar Pranowo, Mahfud Md Undergo Medical Check-up

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The presidential and vice presidential candidate pair, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, had just underwent a medical check-up at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 16:15 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). The health check starting at 07:00 WIB is one of the registration requirements for the 2024 presidential election.

In front of the media crew, the Ganjar-Mahfud pair said that the health examination went smoothly. "I think everything went smoothly, just a little sweaty," said Ganjar, Sunday, October 22, 2023.

The health check, said Ganjar, took place from morning to evening. He said that he hoped the results would be good and could be immediately sent to the KPU (General Elections Commission) to complete the administrative requirements. "Thank God it's finished," said Ganjar.

After the medical examination, the Head of Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Budi Sulistya, said that his party would hold a plenary session to determine the results of the medical examination. Later, the RSPAD (Army Central Hospital) will submit the results of the health examinations of all presidential and vice presidential candidates simultaneously to the KPU.

In the plenary session, Budi said that he would present all examiners, including RSPAD, colloquium, BNN, Indonesian psychology leaders. "We are returning to the standards requested by the KPU," said Budi.

Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md are the second pair to undergo a medical examination after Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

The health examination for the presidential and vice presidential candidates includes physical, spiritual and drug-free health tests. This test is one of the requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates after registering with the KPU. After that, the KPU team will verify the administration, such as the legality of the administrative requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates which were previously submitted to the KPU during registration.

According to KPU Chairman Hasim Asy'ari, his party had communicated from the start with the medical team at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto in preparation for the medical tests for the presidential and vice presidential candidates. Medical checks are carried out according to the time sequence.

The KPU will test all data submitted by valid registrants in accordance with Article 13-21 of KPU Regulation Number 19 of 2023. "Later on, the verification team will give the status of meeting the requirements or not meeting the requirements," said KPU Commissioner Idham Holik, Friday, October 20, 2023.

The Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md pair were supported by the coalition of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), United Development Party (PPP), People's Conscience Party (Hanura), and Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo). This couple has registered with the KPU on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
