Tourism Ministry Estimates Rp914 billion Money Circulates from MotoGP Mandalika

17 October 2023 09:16 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy of the Strategic Policy of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Dessy Ruhati mentioned that the money in circulation from MotoGP Mandalika reached Rp914 billion. She claimed that the ticketing garnered Rp73 billion and the tourists accumulated Rp841 billion.

"This is a temporary calculation since it's an ongoing process," Dessy said during the Weekly Brief with Sandiaga Uno on Monday. October 16.

According to Dessy, this year's GP was attended by 102,929 people. The majority of these people came from NTB, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Bali, and Jakarta. Around 40 percent of these visitors stayed at hotels, 20 percent stayed at homestays, while the rest stayed at resorts or with acquaintances.

Lodgings in Mandalika, Praha, and Mataram City recorded a 100 percent occupancy rate with prices twice as expensive compared to regular days.

Business owners also saw an increase in their profits by 36.54 percent due to this international event. "These business owners have agreed to come back for this event in the future," she said.

Earlier, the President Director of PT Pertamina Nicke Widyawati also claimed that MotoGP Mandalika was a success. According to her, the championship is not only an event to celebrate racing but also has positive impacts on the economy, including supporting local businesses and attracting tourists.
