TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo appointed SOEs Minister Erick Thohir as Ad-Interim Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, substituting for Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Minister Luhut is currently undergoing treatment for a health problem, as said by the Coordinator of President's Special Staff AAGN Ari Dwipayana when called on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan explained earlier on his official Instagram account, @luhut.pandjaitan, that on doctor's recommendation, he is currently resting for a few days after a worsening health condition.
"Suddenly, I felt an unusual level of exhaustion unlike what I usually feel after working," Luhut explained on Tuesday. He was then brought to a hospital by his wife for preventive measures.
The minister decided to recover in Singapore, as well as conduct a more comprehensive medical examination as per recommendation from his colleague, Singaporean Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean, and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
"I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to President Jokowi for providing me with the presidential medical team that allowed me to recover," Luhut said.
